Saturday 9: LIttle Red Corvette

From the archives.
In memory of Prince (1958-2016)

1) The subject of this song is frankly sexual. Do you blush easily?

~ No, I use to a little, but with showing soooooo much in TV and movies this day, it's commonplace

2) Prince was his real first name (Prince Rogers, to be exact). Growing up, his relatives called him "Skipper." Do you have any nicknames within your family?

~ Nope

3) Prince said he was "obsessed" with Mozart and read whatever he can find about the composer. What's the last book you read?

~ It's been so long,  I really don't know!

4) Between Prince and The Beach Boys, the Corvette is a much sung-about car. Tell us about your vehicle.

~ Cream-colored 2005 PT Cruiser convertible.

5) In the 1980s, when Prince was popular, MTV could turn a song into a hit. In 2016, where do you hear new music?

~ I've basically been hearing ALL the music that I hear on Spotify.

6) In 1982, when "Little Red Corvette" ruled the airwaves, Braniff Airways shocked the travel industry and threw passengers into chaos by declaring bankruptcy. When did you last fly? Did your trip go smoothly?

~ Last flew in 2007, to Austin, Texas, a good friend's wedding. It went great! I was alone and loved my last row window seat!

7) 1982 is also the year Disney opened Epcot. Have you ever been to a Disney park?

~ Nope, none of them. I would love to though!

8) 1982 is the year Cheers premiered. The sitcom was set in a bar where "everybody knows your name." Tell us about your favorite local bar or restaurant.

~ Mexican Fiesta, I LOVE that place, love it so much I threw my own birthday party there last year! ...And will again this year!

9) The 1980s were considered a highpoint in professional tennis, with Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe dominating the sport. Do you play tennis?

~ Nope, never have

Six Word Saturday: April 2

It's Spring!  It's April! ...It's snowing?!?!

Saturday 9: Fool On The Hill

Saturday 9: Fool on the Hill (1967)
Unfamiliar with today's song? We can't help you. The YouTube copyright police have removed the Beatles' version.

1) Friday was April Fool's Day. Did you pull any pranks? Did anyone put anything over on you?

~ Nope, I live alone, nobody to play one on! Boring!

2) The practice of playing tricks on one another on April 1 dates back at least to the 14th century and Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales includes a mention of it. Geoffrey Chaucer has been called England's greatest poet. Quote a bit of poetry for us. (It doesn't have to be English, or great.)

~ Time, it comes
Time,  it goes
Sometimes fasr
Sometimes slow
This I say
Because this I know
Time, it comes
Time, it goes

(...I wrote this myself!)

3) Beatle Paul is a huge Elvis fan and is happy to own the bass that was played on Elvis' 1954 recording of "That's All Right, Mama." Tell us about one of your prized possessions.

~ My convertible PT Cruiser :)

4) In contrast to his easygoing persona, Sir Paul has been described by former band mate Ringo Starr as strong willed and "determined to get his own way." Do you consider yourself strong willed and determined? Or are you more easy going?

~ Much more easy going!

5) The Beatles once bought a Greek island, planning to live and record there, but sold it after a few months because it started to seem like a bad, expensive idea. Tell us about a purchase that gave you buyer's remorse.

~ I'm not too crazy about my sofa and love seat, I wish I had chosen a different color

6) Legend has it that the Beatles officially broke up in Disney World. John Lennon was staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort when he received and signed the court papers that dissolved the group. Have you ever conducted business while on vacation?

~ No, I don't remember ever doing that. But I've also never had a job I needed to do it for.

7) George Harrison loved puttering around in the garden and dedicated his autobiography to "gardeners everywhere." Do you have a green thumb?

~ Nah, I love plants, but I'm sure they'd prefer that I didn't!

8) Ringo regrets not having saved more Beatles memorabilia, which he realizes now would be worth a fortune. Are you a pack rat?

~ Not a pack rat, but definitely a clutter hound!

9) Random question: Which do you prefer, Girl Scout cookies or Boy Scout popcorn?

~ Girl Scout cookies! And I enjoy several of the (especially peanut butter patties!) I didn't even know the Boy Scouts sell popcorn!

~ This morning a transportation van came to drive me to dialysis. Usually I have a thoughtful driver who will fold my walker, lift it up into the van or car trunk and open the door for me. Today's driver, who I had never met before,  didn't get out to help. It was a hard door to open, I opened the front passenger door (an elderly lady was sitting there) and I told him about the problem I was having. He said "Pull it!" and stayed sitting there. I got it open, folded my walker and threw it in. I got in and the door was as hard to close as it was to open. When I arrived at dialysis he said "OK, there you go", and still sat. I got out and said, in quite a rude tone, "You'll have to shut this door! Thank you!" and walked in, as he stayed in his seat.
